Washington, DC -- One day after President Trump announced the 2027 NFL Draft would be held at the National Mall in Washington DC, Federal District Court Judge Dominique Detritus overruled the President. The judge presides in the Southern District of California and was appointed by President Obama in 2014.
The Honorable Judge Detritus - holding a very official looking gavel - made the ruling after a lawsuit from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) claimed President Trump overreached his authority. Several legal-sounding phrases were used to indicate President Trump had no standing to announce where the NFL draft would be held, including "ex post facto" and "objection sustained." Judge Detritus ruled it must instead be held at a convention center in Minneapolis owned by the Judge's son.
The Trump administration is expected to appeal.
